About the practitioner

Dr. Mahesh Mathpati

Ayurvedic physician · Public health researcher · Integrative health practitioner

Dr. Mahesh Mathpati is an experienced Ayurvedic physician with over 20 years of clinical practice in India and the United Kingdom. He provides personalised, holistic healthcare by combining the time-tested principles of Ayurveda with evidence-informed approaches that support long-term health and wellbeing.

His consultations focus on understanding each person as a whole rather than treating symptoms alone. By considering your constitution (Prakriti), lifestyle, diet, environment and health history, he develops plans that address the underlying causes of illness while supporting the body's own capacity to heal.

Health is closely connected to lifestyle, community and the natural environment.

He has extensive experience managing musculoskeletal conditions, skin disorders, digestive problems, stress-related conditions and lifestyle-related disease. Treatment may include dietary advice, lifestyle change, Ayurvedic herbal medicines and preventive strategies to restore balance.

Alongside clinical practice, Dr. Mathpati is a public health researcher pursuing a PhD at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His research asks how traditional medicine can improve population health, and how Ayurveda contributes to modern, person-centred care. He has worked on clinical research into Ayurvedic approaches for Long COVID, and teaches in public health, ethics and human rights.

Before moving to the UK, he worked extensively with rural and indigenous communities in India — community health programmes, documenting traditional health knowledge, medicinal-plant conservation, and sustainable models of integrative healthcare.
